With a rich history spanning over 70 years, Universal Constructions has been a prominent player in the construction industry, engaging in diverse projects for local and state governments as well as private enterprises. The company, known for its comprehensive services covering all aspects of building construction, boasts executives with extensive experience in managing major government and private projects.
Universal Constructions has successfully delivered a wide range of projects, from hospitals and educational facilities to abattoirs, commercial buildings, and even unique ventures such as a weather station at Scott Reef and a township for the mining community at Paraburdoo. Notably, the company has earned an excellent reputation as one of the largest education construction firms in Western Australia and adheres to the State Code of Practice for the Building Industry, operating under its own robust Quality Assurance Systems.
Our Story
Universal Constructions has grown organically over more than 70 years, building a strong reputation through experience, long-standing relationships and a commitment to delivering quality projects.
Founded in 1952 by McKenzie Mitchell (Mac), Universal began delivering construction projects across metropolitan and regional Western Australia, South Australia and the Northern Territory. In 1963, Mac’s son John joined the business as a stakeholder, continuing the company’s family involvement that remains today.
Over the decades, Universal has delivered a diverse portfolio across education, industrial, residential, retail, healthcare, hospitality, recreation, aged care and defence. Today, our focus is firmly on the Perth construction market.
Our success is built on strong relationships, experienced people and a hands-on approach to project delivery. Supported by industry-leading systems and a long-serving management team, we remain focused on reliability, quality and our ongoing Commitment to Excellence.
